UNRELENTING LOVE! WEEK 1: LOVE SHARES

UNRELENTING LOVE! WEEK 1: LOVE SHARES

March 7 & March 8, 2020

Leader Note: Remember your goal isn’t to get through every question but to have a good discussion where everyone participates. Your number one job as a small group leader is making space for the Holy Spirit to work.

Let’s Break the Ice:

We’ve all heard the saying, “sharing is caring,” so what is your favorite thing to share with the people you care about?

Getting Started:

  • Last week we talked about different small steps we could take to alleviate anxiety about trusting God with our finances. Did you take any steps? How did this exercise go for you?
  • Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged you or confused you?

  • What have you been learning in your personal study and God time?

Digging Deeper

Read 1 John 1:1-4 together as a group. God, out of His immense love for humanity, shared Himself with us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of this act of sharing, we are given the opportunity to have intimate fellowship with God and eternal life with Him in Heaven. In understanding this truth, what words would you use to describe God’s love for humanity? How does this impact the way you view your personal relationship with Him?

Read Genesis 1:27 together and discusses how humans were made in the image of God.  If God is sharing by nature, what would it look like for you to reflect this same sharing heart through your own actions to your family, neighbors, coworkers, local church, etc.?

  • What challenges, both internally and/or externally, might present themselves as you engage in these activities?

As Christians, God also prompts us to proclaim His good news. In 1 John 1:1-4, the author exclaims that “we write this to make our joy complete.” For John, there was joy in sharing what God had shared with Him! Have you ever had the opportunity to share the hope you have in Jesus Christ with another person?

  • Did you find joy in doing so?
  • Did the encounter end up how you expected it to?
  • What did you learn from this experience?

If you have yet to take an intentional step in sharing your faith in Jesus with someone, what has kept you from doing so? What reservations do you have?

Taking it Home:

As we step into a full life found only in Jesus Christ, sharing becomes a major part of this journey. Brainstorm a small step you can personally take this week to visibly demonstrate love through the act of sharing.

Prayer: How can we pray for each other as a group this week?
