Day 4: God’s Generosity Guides Us

READ

REFLECT

Do you remember the days before our cars and phones had GPS? We would use a website to print out directions (MapQuest), use a foldable paper map, or simply ask someone else how to get to our destination. Now we have GPS technology that is constantly within our reach and because we are so dependent on it, we may not even know how to read an old-fashioned map! In fact, according to a recent study, 83% of U.S. drivers admitted they would get lost without the GPS in their car or on their phone.

Can you imagine trying to live our lives without a spiritual GPS? We would probably make decisions based on how we feel, our convenience, or whether or not it practically works. Thankfully, we are not left alone. God has generously revealed to us how we can come to Him for guidance. We don’t have to be clueless about where to go next or what our purpose in life is. Rather than feeling lost, we can be generously guided by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.

RESPOND

Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.

Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do

Inward: Who you are; How you live

Outward: Intercession for others

Today’s Prayer:

“God, as you guided the Israelites out of Egypt and David through the valley of the shadow of death, I know you will guide me through my difficult times and to a bright future. Help me to listen to you and obey your Word so that I can avoid spending time walking around in a wilderness like the Israelites. Thank you for being generous in your guidance and never withholding from me what I need to know.”
