Day 21: Hold Fast

Today marks the culmination of our spontaneous 21 Days of Prayer. Thank you for walking this journey with us. Amidst the upheaval and challenges our world is navigating, it is reassuring to center our focus on the unwavering, unshakable, and faithful character and promises of the Lord.

Our staff and members of our prayer team have been instrumental in providing insightful guidance and personal reflections, grounding us in the truth of God’s Word. A heartfelt thank you to each of you for your exceptional teamwork!

These 21 Days of Prayer arrived at a moment when the turbulence around us was causing a sense of tension. While the storms we face today may not vanish overnight, I firmly believe we can discover a measure of peace within the storm when we anchor ourselves in the truth of God’s character.

Maybe you are not shaken by all going on in the world because your personal world is in upheaval. It might be in the form health issues, the sting of death, grappling with disease, navigating relational losses, confronting work conflicts, dealing with a prodigal child or spouse, or enduring the unrelenting storm of a temptation.

If yes to any of those and more please keep this in mind:

Storms will happen. As Jesus emphasized in John 16:33, troubles are inevitable in this life.

Storms don’t last forever. Drawing from personal experience, I can attest that storms eventually pass, and the winds subside.

Storms can change us. The storms we encounter serve to shape and transform us, refining our character or deepening our trust in the Lord’s plan.

Storms remind us of our need for an anchor and hope. In moments of confusion and chaos, our anchor determines how we weather the storm. I find solace in anchoring myself to the simple promises of God’s faithfulness:

Deuteronomy 32:4: “He is the Rock; his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

Psalm 36:5: “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.”

Psalm 91:4: “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

1 Corinthians 1:9: “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Hold fast to the truth in the storm.

PRAYER

Father God, in a world saturated with unsteadiness, confusion, chaos, and conflict, I turn to You as my shelter and anchor in the storm. I express gratitude for the promise of being my ever-present help in times of trouble and the assurance that nothing can sever me from Your boundless love and constant presence.

I am confident that, regardless of the storm, you are the one who will calm my fears, instill perseverance through trials, and offer comfort in times of trouble. Your unwavering presence is my source of strength and peace.

In the name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.
