Day 3: God’s Presence that Strengthens

Moses was a man who had a past that weakened him and caused him to think he deserved nothing better than to sit on the sidelines. Because he had murdered an Egyptian, Moses fled and found safety with his father-in-law in the small town of Midian. However, God knew where he was and He knew Moses needed to be strengthened for the task that awaited him. God reminded Moses who He was and what He was going to do with Moses. Because of this, Moses was able to receive strength and confidence in a way only God’s presence could give. David also found strength in God’s presence as ran from his enemies. Both men were at the very weakest when God’s presence gave them strength.

There are times when we also need God’s strength. We may feel weak, exhausted, burnt out, or not able to press forward because of our present and/or past. However, the God who strengthened Moses and David is the same God who strengthens us. At every point God meets us with His strength. All we have to do is to ask!

Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.

Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do

Inward: Who you are; How you live

Outward: Intercession for others

Today’s Prayer:

Father, I confess I feel lonely and weak sometimes. I feel like you are everywhere but right here. Please show me your presence. When I am weak give me your strength. When I am scared, show me you are right here. Like David and Moses discovered, I want to discover how your presence strengthens me to accomplish your will.

Upward: Thanksgiving and Worship
