Day 7: God’s Generosity Makes Our Generosity Possible

READ

REFLECT

The pandemic made all of us further paranoid about the spreading of viruses. And for good reason! We found ourselves wearing masks to places we never would have dreamed of wearing them. While they may have been inconvenient, we wore them to protect ourselves and to protect others, especially the medically vulnerable.

The Israelites were so impacted by God’s generosity to them that they couldn’t help but be generous back to Him as they sacrificially gave to build the temple. Rather than spreading a virus, God wants us to spread His generosity to others. He wants us to be so impacted by His generosity to us that we share His abundance with others. He wants us to spread His generosity to everyone.

RESPOND

Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.

Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do

Inward: Who you are; How you live

Outward: Intercession for others

(Spend time in prayer for those impacted by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.)

Today’s Prayer:

“God, thank you for your generosity to me. I am so undeserving to receive any of it. However, I freely embrace it! Thank you for showing me your generous heart. Fill me with your generous heart so that I can generously love others as you have loved me. Help us as a church be generous to those within our church and those who are not yet followers of you. May our generosity be the means by which they are drawn to you!”
