Day 10: Grace-Filled Generosity

READ

REFLECT

Did you ever have a boss or teacher who played favorites? And you were not one of those favorites? Then you know what one of the hired men in this parable felt like.

In this thought-provoking parable, Jesus reveals God’s grace is His to be generous with and no one has any right to dictate how He can demonstrate His generosity. One of the hired men in this parable complained that the same amount of pay was given to all workers regardless of how long they had worked. From his perspective, it was unfair! However, from God’s perspective, any act of generosity He shows flow from His grace.

Likewise, our generosity can be filled with grace as well. While we may feel some people don’t deserve our generosity, grace-filled generosity shows no favorites. Like the master did with his hired hands, we can equally distribute generosity.

RESPOND

Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.

Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do

Inward: Who you are; How you live

Outward: Intercession for others

Today’s Prayer:

“God, help me not to show favoritism in my generosity. Help me to look for others toward whom I may not usually be generous. Guide me in knowing how to be generous to them. Thank you for loving your children with the same measure of grace. Help me to follow this example and fill me with the grace I need to be generous to everyone. Help Pathway continue to be a place where all people can come and experience your generous grace.”
