DAY 14: TRUSTING GOD TO WORK FOR OUR GOOD

READ
Romans 8:28

REFLECT
When young David was anointed king of Israel, he must not have known the trouble that awaited him. His relationship with Saul started out good but as Saul grew increasingly jealous of David’s popularity, it deteriorated. David had engaged and killed a bear, lion, and Goliath, but he ran from Saul. Although David had two opportunities to kill Saul, he chose not to take matters into his own hands. Instead, he trusted the Lord. He trusted the Lord was going to bring about His promise to make David king in His own way and timing. David knew God was working all things out for His good and God’s glory.

It can be a struggle to see how the bad circumstances in our lives can be used for good. But God specializes in using what is now bad and transforming it into something good. Further, He uses all of our life events for something far bigger than us. Our role is to lean into the certainty of His presence. He is not only here, but also actively working for our good!

RESPOND
Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.

Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do

Inward: Who you are; How you live

Outward: Intercession for others

Today’s Prayer:
God, it is difficult to see how you can use the bad in my life. I don’t have the ability on my own to comprehend how you can do this. It doesn’t make sense to me. Help me see your ability and power to accomplish all things for my good. As I wait to see what you will do, guide me step-by-step and give me the grace I need to learn how to trust you… beginning today.

Upward: Thanksgiving and Worship
