DAY 15
Monday, October 28
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed by your Name. Your Kingdom Come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. – Matthew 6:9-10
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall have eternal life. – John 3:16
PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE
This past year I had the privilege to be part of the High School IMPACT Missions Trip to Honduras. One morning we were able to visit the children’s ward of the national hospital. The hospital was chaotic and in a state of deterioration—much like I think a war-zone hospital might be. We divided into groups of four, each with an interpreter. Our group stepped into a room that had three babies all suffering from hydrocephalus (excess fluid on the brain). One of the babies, Luz, had been abandoned and taken to the hospital. In some parts of the world, this condition is very curable if caught early enough. Luz was not born into one of those parts of the world.
Luz held my finger in her tiny hand and looked at me right in the eyes. I knew in that moment that God’s promise of eternal life is true, real, and available to all. I will see Luz again, and we will know each other in the Kingdom of Heaven.
God has shown us this promise by sending Jesus to show us through his words, actions, and miracles. Perhaps today he shows us glimpses of what this Kingdom will be like through such wonderful things such as:
A peaceful walk with your dog on a crisp, vibrant, fall day.
The easy laughter at a wedding celebration.
An infant holding onto your finger and looking into your eyes.
We have such a hard time seeing the sad and difficult things—our eyes are clouded by the hurts of the world and by distractions, division, and cynicism. But we can see God in the daily glimpses of his goodness, and we can hang onto the promise of eternal life.
PRAYER:
Jesus—thank you for showing us how to pray and what God’s promise is to us. Please clear our eyes and soften our hearts so that we may see you and the eternal promise and gift of the Kingdom.
Pray For Our Church: Take some time to pray for Pathway today—the people who make up our church, the staff, the ministries, etc. Ask God to work in and through us.
Pray For Our City: Pray for the people of our community and ask God to be at work in our hometown.
Pray For Our Nation: Pray for our nation—its people and its leaders. Boldly and specifically make your requests, then submit those desires to God’s will. Express your trust in Him.
REFLECT:
Jeff Davis and his wife Lyndsay have three kids and two sons-in-law. He has served as a small group leader with IMPACT (Pathway’s High School Ministry) for nine years and with Pathway’s worship team for four years.

REFLECT:
- How have you seen God’s faithfulness and his promises lived out today?
- Write 2-3 points of gratitude and thank Jesus for these things.
- Spend time praising God for who he is, what he has done, where he is at work, and what he has promised.
