Thrive Thought: Willing and Honest Intents

Willing and Honest Intents

What might a biblical response look like when we—God’s people—are given the opportunity to bring tithes and offerings? In 1 Chronicles 29:10-20, David comes humbly and praises the Lord after collecting an offering for the temple.

“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” 1 Chronicles 29:14 (NIV).

“I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.” 1 Chronicles 29:17 (NIV).

Let us be challenged by how God’s people came with willing and honest intents. David acknowledged that all good things come from God and the privilege it is to give it back to Him.
