Daily Bread
“The sons of Israel did so, and some gathered much and some little. When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.” Exodus 16:17-18 (NASB)
“Give us this day our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11 (NASB)
As part of the Lord’s prayer in the gospels of Luke and Matthew, Jesus provides us the example to ask God for our daily bread. In Exodus we see the Lord literally provide his people’s daily bread as they wander in the wilderness. Some gathered more than others, and some gathered less. At the end of the day, God provided what was needed so that his people were neither lacking nor had excess.
Are you trusting God to provide what you need daily? How might you seek obedience when contemplating what may be a lack or excess in your resources?
