Day 14: Serve One Another
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. –1 Peter 4:9-10
Generous Service
Everything that we are and all that we have is a result of God’s grace. It is because of God’s abundant grace that you and I get to be here today. Considering this grace, Peter encourages all of us to steward the gift of God’s grace for the benefit of others. Grace is given not only for us to receive and enjoy but also for us to pour out to others. In our passage Peter specifically instructs us to use God’s grace to serve others around us.
In the same way that God gave of Himself and served us, we are invited to do that same thing for others. God’s grace enables us to serve others in a variety of different ways. There are ways that only you can serve others because of the specific gifts God has given you through His grace.
Where might God be inviting you to steward His grace? In your family? At your work? With your friends? It can genuinely be as simple as having an intentional conversation with a co-worker or cleaning around the house for your spouse. But maybe for you it is deeper than that. For you maybe it looks like serving someone you don’t like, or forgiving someone who has hurt you, or sharing the gospel with someone you know needs it. Regardless of the outcome of these actions, when any of these things are done out of a response to God’s grace, it is an act of worship and devotion to the Lord. These actions echo for eternity for as God says in Hebrews 6:10, “…He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.”
Prayer
Father, we thank you for the grace you have shown us and the grace you continually give us. Would you now lead us to serve those who are right around us. Would you give us your eyes and your heart as we love and serve your people today in whatever way you lead us to. Amen.

In his free time, he loves to read, golf, drink coffee (sometimes in that order), and do anything that gets him outside enjoying God’s creation. He also enjoys playing and listening to music, and if you’re around him, there’s a good chance you’ll hear him singing a song.
