DAY 2: I AM VICTORIOUS (IN CHRIST)
Tuesday, February 9
READ
Ephesians 1:15-23
REFLECT
When our favorite sports team wins a game, we often use the pronoun “we” to refer to our sense of belonging to the team. However, in reality, we are not part of the team. We weren’t on the field, we didn’t score any points, and we didn’t practice before the game. We didn’t even put on a uniform! Yet, passionate fans associate themselves with their team so closely, they feel as though their team’s victory is their own.
Christ’s victory is like this in one sense and different in another. It was He who died on the cross and rose from the dead. He is the One who was truly victorious. We didn’t do a thing. Yet, Christ invites us to join in the victory party as though we did something. His victory is our victory! We are victorious in Christ!
Because our identity is in Christ, we are victorious over life and death. Christ’s victory gives us hope, an inheritance, and access to His power. Our identity as victorious children of God means that we can live life with a different perspective. Nothing and no one can overcome or overwhelm us. We are overcomers in Christ and, therefore, victorious!
RESPOND
Spend time in prayer, following the Upward, Inward, Outward, Upward format.
Upward: Who God is; What God has done, is doing, will do
Inward: Who you are; How you live
Outward: Intercession for others; unified prayer focus with Pathway
TODAY’S PRAYER: God, help us realize that our victory in Christ is not just something in the future that will happen or may happen. Help us to realize that our victory has already happened. It is a present reality. Victorious One, remind us when we feel defeated that nothing has defeated you. Because of this, guide us in approaching everything we encounter with a victorious mindset. Show us that the gates of hell will not prevail against Pathway!
