THRIVE THOUGHT
Investing Toward Service and Future Generosity
In Genesis 41, God used Joseph to interpret Pharaoh’s dream, a move that led the Egyptians to invest in the future and save countless lives, including those of God’s people. Joseph shared this God-given wisdom:
“Therefore, Pharaoh should find an intelligent and wise man and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh should appoint supervisors over the land and let them collect one-fifth of all the crops during the seven good years... That way there will be enough to eat when the seven years of famine come to the land of Egypt. Otherwise this famine will destroy the land.” (Genesis 41:33-36 NLT)
As we look ahead, investing for the future is part of our spiritual journey. For a follower of Christ, retirement is not a finish line; it is a transition. It is a shift from focusing on earning an income to preparing for a new season of dedicated service and continued generosity.
By practicing stewardship today, setting a budget, and investing for the future, we are securing the financial freedom we will need to say "yes" to God’s calling later in life. It takes discernment and obedience to balance our current tithes, the needs of our families, and our investments for the years to come.
On June 13, Pathway’s Thrive Financial Leadership team is hosting a 90-minute seminar that explores Biblical wisdom and practical investing. If you are looking for actionable steps to save for retirement and prepare for your future, we hope you will join us.
