Icebreaker Question: Name some different things that have a “grace period.” (example: college paper, credit card bill, etc.)
- What is a large or small area in which someone has extended grace or forgiveness to you?
- Read Matthew 5:43-48 together. In this passage Jesus is actually correcting the cultural laws of the time. He was reminding his audience how God wanted them to respond to their enemies. What “cultural laws” that we have accepted as Christians would Jesus be talking with us about today?
- Ana said that Jesus gave us the example of being people who raise the bar on the grace that we extend. In what ways is God calling you to love the people that you know who are hard to love?
- What challenged you, confused you, or changed you during the weekend’s message?
Life at Home Question:
Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Have someone in your group read Ephesians 3:14-19 out loud. As you listen put the name of an “enemy” in the place of the pronouns in the verse. Use this method to practice praying for your “enemies” this week.
