DAY 11: WAIT IN HOPE FOR THE LORD
SCRIPTURE
“From heaven the Lord looks down
and sees all mankind;
from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth—
he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.
No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.”
– Psalm 33:13-22
“Wait in hope for the Lord”… waiting is hard. Waiting for change. Waiting for answers. Waiting for news.
It’s difficult in seasons of war and political strife and devastation to wait on the Lord. To continue trusting in His presence amidst such reckless hate and brokenness. Yet, time and time again God reminds us that He is present and our hope for true healing. Change and peace can only come from Him. May we strive to wait with expectation and hope that God can and will intervene. His unfailing love (v. 22) is always with us, and He is a safe shield in this time of waiting.
For extra encouragement today, listen to “Cornerstone”.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, though our hearts are heavy for the many conflicts around the world, may we not lose sight of the fact our hope is in You. One day, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that You are Lord (Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:10-11). You are our only hope.
Forgive us for placing our hope in the government, political ideologies, comfort, financial security, and other circumstances. We acknowledge that our hearts are so quick to wander—to try and “fix” things on our own—but we also know none can be saved or transformed apart from You.
By Υour power, teach us to trust in Your name and lean not on our own understanding of what is happening, but fully rely on You. We commit our future and world to Your hands. Your will be done. Amen.
