Day 8: Devotion in Community
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. – Romans 12:10
Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. – Philippians 2:1-2
For approximately 9 years we have had the privilege of working alongside of an awesome team of friends, helping couples with their marriages through a ministry at Pathway called Reengage. Our primary focus is pointing people toward Christ and loving them and encouraging each of them as they build community with other couples working to improve their marriage. We love seeing what God is doing to restore, redeem and renew marriages. It's not what we do, it's being willing to be used by God and watch what He can do!
One way in which we are used by God is praying for these couples each week. That is something we can all do for the body of Christ, is lift each other up in prayer. This is one way we can show our love for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the ability to come to You with our prayers. Give us a heart for our brothers and sisters. Help us to see their needs and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We pray for a willingness to become a part of a community of believers, by showing love and compassion to the people around us. In Jesus name, Amen.
Jim and Kim have been married 35 years. They have three adult kids and a daughter in law. They've attended Pathway for approximately 21 years.
