21 Days of Prayer & Fasting – Day 6

Day 6: Let the Nations Praise You

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth; your salvation among all nations. –Psalm 67:1-2

Patryk joined one of our choirs just a few weeks before the tour. We were heading to Rzeszów, Poland to help a church launch a new music outreach. On the tour Patryk encountered God. A life-changing moment. It wasn’t from preaching. It wasn’t from a track someone handed out. It wasn’t from hearing someone’s testimony.

As with typical Poles, Patryk was familiar with all the basics of faith. But he struggled to understand the truth clouded by all of the rituals and ancient church traditions.

Patryk’s God-encounter happened in a simple, unexpected way. One evening of the tour we met in the lobby to sing and pray. When Patryk heard the lyrics “You’re a good, good Father and I am loved by you,” his heart broke. Could this God he’d always heard about be a Father? If so, a good one? Patryk knew what his earthly father had done. Abandoning him and his mom made Patryk convinced that fathers were anything but good. But this song, and the group of students singing it, made him long for a heavenly Father who was both loving and good.

During that week of the tour, Patryk prayed with one of the leaders and embarked on his journey to get to know his new heavenly Father. Eight years later, Patryk is serving in his local church, running a youth ministry, engaged to be married, and having a big impact for God’s kingdom in Poland.

God is purposeful in what he does. He shines his face, extends graciousness, and blesses people for a reason. He does this so that the recipients of his love proclaim his saving heart and upside-down kingdom to everyone around them. Even to the ends of the earth.

Prayer

God, we pray that your face and your ways would become visible. There are far too many people on the planet that do not know and understand who you are. And we want to see a change. From New Zealand to Brazil, from Mozambique to Poland, shine forth. Show your love and power. Would you transform one more person today? And then another. And then another. Until your name is known among all the nations. Amen!
