THRIVE THOUGHT
The Company You Keep
When I was a teenager, my parents were always curious about my friends, which bothered me. For one, I did not feel it was their business to know my friends’ business. For another, I wanted independence to make my own decisions, so I didn’t like that they wanted to know who had my attention at school.
Before I had children of my own, I heard a pastor teach on Proverbs 13:20, which says, "Walk with the wise and become wise.” He shared that wisdom is like pink eye and strep throat—it’s contagious!
As a parent now, I constantly share this truth with my kids, and I appreciate why my parents always wanted to know about my friends.
Who I spent time with would affect who I would become.
Friend, this is true today for me and for you. Who you listen to, who you spend time with, who influences you... their wisdom or lack of wisdom rubs off on you!
As I consider my future financial situation, it is directly affected by the wisdom of people I spend time with today.
If I invest time with wise financial people (notice I did not say smart, knowledgeable, intuitive, savvy, or any other word), I become more financially wise.
Do you need wisdom with your finances? Find wise people, listen to them, and let their wisdom shape you.
