Hi, I'm Betsy.
KidCity’s Tiny Town Coordinator, Betsy Beers, has a passion to raise up little people and empower them to be the best versions of themselves. She brings creativity and care to everything she does—from the classrooms of KidCity, to her personal endeavors—which include but are not limited to: sunset photography, year-round Christmas tree decorating modern calligraphy, and walking through her house to turn off the lights everyone else has left on. Betsy is wife to Matt, mom to three kids, and fur-mama to a terrifying cat named Penny who is more like a mountain lion than a house cat (if a mountain lion regularly caught chipmunks and snuck them inside the house. Ew).
Tell us a few interesting facts about yourself:
- I’m a bit of a dare devil (sky diving, bungee jumping, etc), which surprises most people because I am very quiet and reserved in regular life.
- I do not know how to order anything at Starbucks.
- I’ve never seen Star Wars but am married to a Star Wars fanatic.
- I coach 7th grade girls’ basketball.
- I love Pure Michigan commercials.
What are you into right now?
Right now I’m super into learning about the Enneagram (I’m an Enneagram 5), listening to The Bible Binge podcasts, rereading Harry Potter, and watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix.
What is one of your quirks?
I cannot stand the sounds and smells in a breakfast diner, but I do love having breakfast for dinner.
Where’s your happy place?
My happy place is my newly fixed up back patio with twinkly lights, new adirondack chairs, potted plants, and a cozy firepit.
The best thing I cook/bake:
Let’s put it this way, I bring the paper plates to the family gatherings.
Bad grocery cart drivers.
What’s the oldest piece of clothing you own and still wear?
I have some white t-shirts from a charity walkathon in 1996. Somehow I ended up with like four shirts, two of them are still kicking and in my closet… stained and with random holes in them, but they make cozy pajamas!
First album you ever purchased:
New Kids on The Block (also the first concert I ever went to!)
Three fictional characters that describe you:
- Pam from The Office
- Disgust from Inside Out
- Dorothy from Golden Girls
